GM Technical Analysis

The technical analysis of the General Motors stock price chart on 4-hour timeframe shows #S-GM,H4 is retracing down toward the 200-period moving average MA(200) after rebounding to two-month high a week ago. We believe the bearish momentum will continue after the price breaches below the lower boundary of Donchian channel at 49.17. This level can be used as an entry point for placing a pending order to sell. The stop loss can be placed at 50.38. After placing the order, the stop loss is to be moved every day to the next fractal high, following Parabolic indicator signals. Thus, we are changing the expected profit/loss ratio to the breakeven point. If the price meets the stop loss level (50.38) without reaching the order (49.17), we recommend cancelling the order: the market has undergone internal changes which were not taken into account.

Fundamental Analysis of Stocks - GM

General Motors announced it plans to stop shipping vehicles to China from the United States. Will the GM stock price continue sliding?

GM informed employees and its China dealers it would stop shipping vehicles to China from the United States. Beijing imposed tariffs of more than 100% on goods imported into China from the United States after president Trump ordered 145% tariffs on Chinese exports into US. United States and China are currently engaged in discussions on tariffs and have agreed to lower the levies for 90 days. GM imported vehicles to China from the United States through its Durant Guild premium import business. The automaker launched the Durant Guild - a lifestyle platform - in China in 2022 to enable GM “to enter new market segments in China, serving the more diverse needs of our discerning Chinese customers.” Durant Guild represented less than 0.1% of the volume GM sells in China, according to a company spokesperson. The automaker said it has decided to optimize GM China’s operations and restructure the Durant Guild. Expected decline in GM vehicle export sales is bearish for GM stock price.
